Today it is my distinct pleasure and honor to make an overdue announcement regarding my amazing team. Joining me at Bochner are the following with more to come:
-Jayme Partridge, my esteemed friend and partner who just won a summary judgment of non-infringement. Jayme, also a Texas Law grad with high honors (Order of the Coif) is originally from East Texas co-leads our team and is a fierce yet strategic patent litigator and trial lawyer. She started her career at Baker Botts before her time as a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski (now Norton Rose), her own IP litigation boutique, and Fish & Richardson. She has a MechE degree – with honors – from Texas A&M. She is a rock star and I am honored to practice with her.
-Jayne Piana, my good friend from my small group at UT Law (and also Order of the Coif). She also started her career at Fulbright, before joining Jayme's boutique firm. She then joined BP in-house for ten years before joining Fletcher Yoder, a top Houston IP firm. Before joining Bochner, she was already working with our team on IPRs as we needed to outsource such work at my prior firm. She has a ChemE degree from Texas A&M. I cannot say enough good things about Jayne. It is nice to be back together with Jayne as she joins as a partner.
-Patrick Dunn has been my right-hand man for the last four years, and I could not do what I -- and our team -- do without him. Pat, who joined as Counsel, has degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics, and prior to law school was an engineer for over 20 years at such companies as Samsung, Dell, Motorola, Freescale, and THX. After 20+ years as an engineer, he worked on patent licensing and technology issues for Intellectual Ventures. Pat is one of the best people I have ever worked with in every way, and I am honored to work with him every day. He also makes my job much easier as he can do everything at a platinum level.
-Homayoon Rafatifo, PhD has been an integral part of our team for almost three years, and is the best at technical patent work of anyone I have worked with. He has taken and defended expert depositions, argued hearings, and managed IPRs. Homayoon graduated with distinction from Sharif University of Technology—the leading institution for STEM fields in the Middle East—with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Physical Chemistry. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Missouri in 2017, Homayoon began formally studying law at MU while maintaining his research and instructional duties through MU’s Chemistry Department. During his law school studies, Homayoon coauthored three law review articles on different intellectual property topics with renowned patent attorney Dennis Crouch. He also served as the President of the Association of Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law and was appointed as a TA for Property law and Patent law courses. Homayoon is a warrior in every way, and we are very lucky to have him on our team. I am honored to call him a friend and colleague.
-John Spisak has a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a law degree from Washburn University. Before law school, he had a career as an engineer in the solar industry and owned his own construction firm. In under two years as an associate, he has argued and won two claim construction hearings, wrote a winning summary judgment brief on noninfringement, and managed multiple experts and drafted tons of briefs. An exceptional writer, John (like Homayoon) works well above his experience level. While some lawyers are jacks of all trades and masters of none, John is a master of all. Look for more great things for this young Jedi.
-Colin Gould is our rock-star paralegal who we could not live without. He has a BBA from Sam Houston State University.
More to come soon, but I am beyond excited to bring my team to a firm with strong IP roots, vast technical capabilities, and a strong litigation bench. Watch out, BigTech!
